About Walk Voyage

Curated China travel guides for independent travelers

Walk Voyage is a small editorial project that publishes practical, English-language city and theme guides for travelers who want to plan a real China trip — not a list of famous landmarks. We combine attractions, local food, hotels, budgets, and multi-day routes in one place, and we cite the public sources behind every claim.

What we cover

15 cities, 10 provinces, 8 themed routes

Every city guide is built from the same data shape — attractions, food, hotels, routes, budgets, and FAQ — so travelers can compare destinations apples-to-apples. Every province guide aggregates A-grade attractions, cuisine overview, and city-level deep dives. Every theme guide is a cross-city route that layers on top of the city pages.

How we research and write

Our process is designed to make every guide fact-checkable, comparable, and useful for actual trip planning.

1. Source from public data

Authoritative first

Every quantitative claim in a Walk Voyage guide is cross-checked against an authoritative source — UNESCO World Heritage listings, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism A-grade site registry, provincial government pages, or established encyclopedic sources. Each city page links to its sources at the bottom.

2. Structured city data

Same shape, every city

Every city guide uses the same data fields: attractions, food, routes, route stops, and budget items. This makes it possible to compare Chengdu's hotel price range with Suzhou's, or Harbin's best season with Qingdao's, without re-learning the page layout.

3. Practical, not promotional

No paid placements

Walk Voyage does not accept payment in exchange for coverage, and we do not run affiliate links in city guides. Recommendations are made on editorial merit. If we ever change this, we will mark it clearly on the affected page.

4. Updated, not abandoned

Living guides

China's travel landscape changes — new high-speed rail lines, new A-grade ratings, seasonal closures. We update published guides rather than letting them drift. The "Last updated" date on each page reflects the most recent editorial pass.

Team

Who writes Walk Voyage

Walk Voyage is published by the Walk Voyage Editorial Team. We are a small group of English-speaking writers, researchers, and travelers focused on one thing: helping you plan a real trip to China.

Walk Voyage Editorial Team

Each Walk Voyage city, province, and theme guide is written by the editorial team and cross-checked against the public sources listed on the page. We are not anonymous; the team is reachable via the contact page, and corrections are published as they are verified.

For corrections, suggestions, or partnership inquiries, please use the contact form. We respond to substantive correction requests within 14 days.

Trust & transparency

How we make money, and how we do not

Walk Voyage is currently funded by the editorial team. We do not run display advertising, we do not host sponsored content, and we do not insert affiliate links into our city or theme guides. If we ever do, we will mark every affected page with a clear disclosure.

Where a city page links to an external booking or ticketing site in the future, those links will be marked as such. Editorial content on Walk Voyage is independent of any commercial relationship.

Read our privacy policy to see what data we collect (very little) and our disclaimer for the limits of our travel information.
