About Linfen
Linfen, in southern Shanxi, is the historic capital of Emperor Yao (one of the legendary 5 ancient Chinese emperors) and the gateway to the 5A Yellow River Hukou Waterfall. The prefecture has 50 A-grade sites including 2 of Shanxi's 12 5A sites: the Hukou Waterfall (the world's only yellow-mud waterfall) and the Hongdong Dahuaishu Ancestor Memorial Garden (the 600-year-old Ming-dynastic migration museum). The prefecture also has the 1,800-year-old Guangsheng Temple with the world's tallest glazed-tile pagoda, the 1,500-year-old Yao Temple, the China Gate (Huamen, the world's tallest decorative gate), and the Linfen Museum. The 6,000-year-old Dadiwan Yao cultural legacy is the origin of Chinese civilization.

Hukou Waterfall (Yellow River)
A 5A UNESCO-listed Yellow River waterfall 200 km west of Linfen, the only yellow-mud waterfall in the world, 50 meters tall and 30 meters wide. The 5A scenic area is the most-photographed Shanxi nature site, paired with the Yellow River Hukou Geology Museum and the surrounding red-rock Taihang-Gorge. Best April-May (spring melt water) and October-November (autumn water levels).

Hongdong Dahuaishu Ancestor Memorial Garden
