About Yuncheng
Yuncheng, in southwestern Shanxi along the Yellow River, is the historic home of the Guan Yu (Guan Di, the Chinese god of war) worship and the 5A Wulao Peak Taoist sacred mountain. The prefecture has 43 A-grade sites including 2 of Shanxi's 12 5A sites: the Wulao Peak (one of China's Taoist sacred mountains) and the Yuncheng Guandi Temple (the holy temple of the Chinese god of war). The prefecture also has the 5A Stork Tower (Guanque Tower, the Tang-dynasty Yellow-River Tower), the 4A Pujiu Temple (the 'Romance of the Western Chamber' setting), the 6,000-year-old Yuncheng Salt Lake, and the 1,000-year-old Yongle Palace in Ruicheng (the Yuan-dynasty Taoist masterpiece).

Yuncheng Guandi Temple Cultural Tourism Scenic Area
A 5A 1,400-year-old Guandi Ancestral Temple in central Yuncheng, the largest and most-photographed Guan Yu temple in China. The 4A complex has the 88-meter-long hanging dragon carved wall (the longest in China), the 9-meter-tall Guan Yu statue, the 1,000-year-old main hall, the 2,000-year-old original Han-dynasty Guan Yu tomb, and the 1,000-year-old Song-dynasta stone-carved tablet.
