About Weihai
Weihai, on the eastern tip of the Shandong Peninsula facing the Yellow Sea, is one of China's most-photographed coastal cities. Rongcheng Swan Lake National Nature Reserve
The wintering ground for 10,000+ whooper swans from Siberia, located 80 km east of Weihai. The 4A-rated nature reserve has the 30-km coastal wetland, the 1,000+ whooper swans that arrive in late October and depart in late March, the 200+ species of migratory birds, the Sunrise Bay observation platform, and the 1,000-meter sea-side walking path. The most-famous bird-watching destination in northern China.

Weihai International Bathing Beach
The 2,800-meter white-sand urban beach, the most popular summer swimming destination in the city. The unrated beach has the 100-meter swimming area, the 30+ beach umbrellas, the 50+ seafood restaurants along the shore, the Weihai Park (free, with the iconic Happiness Gate sea-view platform), and the night-time seaside promenade.
Free entry. Best June-August for swimming. The sunrise at the eastern end is the most-photographed. The seafood restaurants along the shore serve Rushan oysters and Yantai-style sea cucumber. Pair with the Huanhai Road drive for a 1-day coastal day.

Weihai Braised Sea Cucumber (Hui Shen)
The Weihai premium delicacy - the local sea cucumber (a different species from the Yantai variety, smaller and denser) braised in oyster sauce and abalone stock for 4-6 hours. The Weihai sea cucumber is considered a more-elevated delicacy than the Yantai version, and is the most-celebrated banquet dish in the city.

Rushan Oysters (Rushan Sheng Hao)
The famous Weihai Rushan oysters, harvested in the Rushan Bay 50 km south of Weihai. The Rushan oyster is the largest in northern China, with a creamy texture and a unique mineral taste from the bay's freshwater-sea water mix.
